Athena Research and Innovation Center / IMIS
The Athena Research and Innovation Center in Information, Communication and Knowledge Technologies is the first research center in Greece with a focus exclusively on Information Society. Established in Athens in 2003, it is a research and technology organization supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Ministry of Education, Lifetime Learning and Religion. The Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS) started its operation in March 2007, and is the newest institute of "Athena". IMIS mission is to conduct research, develop applications and products, and provide services in the areas of data management and large scale information systems. Institute's focus is on database and information systems technologies, on the development of large scale data management applications, and on the innovative utilization of infomation resources. IMIS aim is to co-operate with the industry, the public sector, and the academia through research and development projects, in order to develop and transfer new technological solutions for the exploitation and the management of data. Foundation for Research and Technology(FORTH)
The Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), established in 1983, is one of the largest research centers in Greece with well organized facilities, highly qualified personnel and a reputation as a top-level research foundation worldwide. FORTH reports to the General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Hellenic Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports. FORTH's activities are complemented by Crete University Press (CUP), the Skinakas Observatory, the Science and Technology Park of Crete (STEP-C) and PRAXI/HELP- FORWARD Network.
